Batman: Arkham City GOTY-Arkham Asylum was the first game in the series and was released on the Xbox 360 on June 15, 2009. It is a story-driven prequel to the original Batman: Arkham Asylum. The game is based on Tim Burton's 1989 Batman film and was developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Games.
Arkham Asylum was developed over a span of three years. The staff was made up of the same team who had worked on the first two Arkham titles for the Nintendo DS, along with some additional new staff members.
The game begins where Batman's last stand against the Joker is at the Arkham Asylum. Batman is imprisoned in a cell where he is tortured by the Joker. Batman breaks free, and he and Catwoman begin to put the Joker's plan back together. They are soon caught up in the midst of the GCPD and Arkham's new security company, the GCPD Special Crimes Unit, when the two fugitives are forced to use their skills to break out of the asylum.
Batman: Arkham City is an open world-based action-adventure video game developed by Rocksteady Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. The game is set in the same universe as the Batman: Arkham series of games and is the fifth main installment in the series.
The game was announced on March 20, 2011, at the Spike Video Game Awards. The game was released on May 17, 2011, in North America and on May 20, 2011, in Europe.
